Imitation bait is the one which bears a good resemblance to real bait and has many benefits compared to it. While you use real bait there is always a possibility of unwanted fish or turtles attacking your bait and completely ruining it. This way you will have to attach the bait again and again and this activity can prove cumbersome. On the other hand depending on your rigging method you may barely notice your bait being stripped from the hook.
Secondly, imitation bait can be very well used in combination with the real bait and in this way it can change your baits action and helps bait being taken by the fish. Similarly the hook and hook link add weight to your real bait. The imitation bait will act in a different manner to the hook and as a fish sucks this bait, its light weight provides you with better chances of it being taken. Significantly balancing your bait and making it as light if not slightly lighter than the free offering makes it more likely that as the fish sucks, the hook bait reacts at least close to a free offering, if not becoming the first item that enters the fish’s mouth. There are various imitation baits that you can take along t your fishing trip. These include sweet corn bait, sinking maize, mussel, shrimp, maggots, boilies etc.
