Live Bait Fishing
When you look at the various types of live bait all anglers use to catch fish you may become a bit overwhelmed as to which ones to use.
Some of the most popular live bait includes:
- Worms
- Grub worms
- Hellgrammites
- Maggots
- Crickets
- Leeches
- Minnows
- Grasshoppers
Now let’s look at a few tips to help with live bait fishing:
- Sense of Smell – Fish can smell anything that is unnatural in their environment, such as the smell on your hands. If you are a smoker, the fish can smell this as well and this can determine how many fish you catch. You should always carry around a hand sanitizer or rub your hands in the grass nearby before touching the bait
- The look – when you use live bait, you want the hook to look like it is not a hook and only something yummy to eat.
- The feel – Keep your live bait alive! The best way to carry around live bait is in a large bucket for water dwelling creatures and for worms and other earth dwelling creatures a bait bag works nicely.
- Hook Size- You will need to use smaller hooks when using live bait. The main reason is large hooks will not look tasty.
